Visiting The Ten Courth Of Hell In Haw Par Villa

Hi Friends and Family,

Have I got a treat for you all! 🙂 Haw Par Villa is a definite must see when you are in Singapore, really it is very entertaining and also quite the learning experience (and it’s free 😉 ).

Haw Par Villa

It is an (abandoned) theme park build by the company that produces tiger balm; you know the nice balm for when your muscles ache? Good thing, there is no entrance fee! Good for cheapskates like me 😉 The park shows different Chinese folklore and mythology and the best known “attraction” is the 10 courts of Hell, which I was stuck in because of heavy rain. Thus quite literally stuck in Hell…

But let the pictures do the talking 🙂

To make this look a bit more informative: “Other major attractions include dioramas of scenes from Journey to the West, Fengshen Bang, The Twenty-four Filial Exemplars,Legend of the White Snake, Romance of the Three Kingdoms; statues of mythological figures such as the Laughing Buddha and Guanyin, and historical personages such as Jiang Ziya, Su Wu and Lin Zexu; the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac, and others.” Quoted from Wikipedia.

Do you recognize any of the myths in the pictures? Would you visit this place?
